Mookaite is a rare crystal found only in one area of Western Australia and is not a true Jasper. It is actually a type of Porcellanite that can contain fossils. Mookaite can vary widely in it’s composition which is one of the reasons there can be such a wide color variation. Much of what is attempted to be extracted from the creek beds will crumble due to a higher content of Chert. The mineral that is more Chalcedony is what holds up better to polishing and carving. This unique stone can help bring stability and a clear perspective as well as help with decision making. It fosters objectivity and discernment and aids in releasing fears.
