A unique variety of Fluorite in which approximately 20% of the Calcium in Fluorite is replaced by the rare earth element, Yttrium, which is often used to strengthen other metal alloys (like magnesium and aluminum). The Yttrium is generally what gives the Fluorite the lavender color, but it can also be violet or even reddish brown in color.
